Purpose of the Global Active Device Quorum

Global-active device is a data-mirroring feature of Hitachi Storage Virtualization Operating System. During a site disaster or with certain component failures, global-active device requires a tie-breaker of sorts to maintain data consistency between the two copies. This is the role of the quorum disk, which is simply a small volume on a third array, or even a disk in a server presented to the two global-active device storage systems.
